THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET

The Mediterranean diet is a lifestyle that the people who live in Mediterranean countries have.

The most important products we eat within the Mediterranean diet are: cereals, fruits, vegetables, legumes and nuts, wine, olive oil, fish, white and some red meat, dairy products and eggs.

We take advantage of the nature growing our food. We eat foods in their proper season when they are more natural and have their best price.

The Mediterranean cuisine is simple with varied ingredients, especially vegetables usually cooked with our olive oil.
In Mediterranean countries eating means to share and eat together, to talk, to celebrate, we celebrate almost everything around a table.
Typical dishes representing some examples of the culture of each country could be: roscón de reyes (sweet round bread with cream), turrón (nougat), polvorones (nut cookies), huesos de santo (filled marzipan rolls)…

Mediterranean people often practise sports.
Our tables are filled with the products of our landscapes and culture.

Science has shown that the Mediterranean diet is healthy and UNESCO declared it intangible cultural heritage to preserve and protect it.
